National Senior Softball Summit

2005 National Senior Softball Women's Advisory Council recommendations to the Summit
January 15, 2005

The SSWAC welcomed three new members:

Randy Moses ISF/ISSA
Cyndi Winslow alternate LVSSA
Karen Charette alternate SSWS

Recommendations:

1. Age divisions:
   a. Work with the USSSA on true age divisions all other organizations currently either use true age divisions for women or are in transition to that goal
   b. Tournament directors offer Masters level divisions for women, 40+ and 45+, to encourage more women to continue to play softball, which will lead to more senior women participating in the future and also lead to more opportunities for women in the Hall of Fame

2. Use 11 defensive players in the 50+ division
   a. Three organizations currently use 10
   b. Reasons include:
      - Less risk for the pitcher
      - More participation in the game,
Hence better for the game overall
To be in effect for this year's championships tourneys, implementation should be by April 1st

3. Keep stats on the names, age groups, and results from all women's tournaments, as well as a list of all-tournament players for each tournament

4. Amend the equalizer rule:
   a. Continue to use 5 runs for difference of one age division
   b. Use 2 runs for each age division difference after that
   c. Example: If a 55 team is playing a 65 team, the 65 team will get 7 runs to start with (5 + 2)

5. Council members will be prepared to assist tournament directors with women's issues at tournaments
   a. Introduce themselves to tournament director
   b. Present SSWAC identification and have written rules available

6. It is important to have at least 2 umpires for all championship games in all tournaments

7. Continue to use the .47 core ball for all women's tournaments

8. Randy is willing to prepare ID cards for all Summit members
   a. Will use pictures Connie Squires has taken at this meeting
   b. He will prepare them for the SSWAC first
   b. If others also want them, Connie can provide pictures taken at this meeting to Randy so he can prepare the cards

9. Organizations distribute Hall of Fame information at all tournaments
   a. This makes more players aware of the existence of this award
   b. Provides information about how to prepare a nomination
   c. Provides an incentive for teams to document all-tournament selections

10. Contact Connie Byro with any additions or changes to tournaments for women at grannysoftball@aol.com

11. Keep up with women's information and issues at our web sites
   a. www.softballrating.com/women.php
   b. www.womensseniorsoftball.com

The National Senior Softball Summit approved a National Combined Senior Softball Rating System in its annual meeting in Marietta, Georgia, in February 2000.

This website represents the combined ratings that are supported by all nine national softball organizations.

If you have a question regarding the ratings, changes in team names, disbanded teams, or teams that have moved up in age group, or information concerning a team's ratings, you can contact any of the three members of the Ratings Committee listed on the appeals form.
