2004 National Senior Softball Women's Advisory Council recommendations WINTER HAVEN, Florida Six members of the National Womenıs Advisory Council met here during the Summit on Jan. 9-11. National Advisory Council Chairman Pat Lawlis presented the Boardıs recommendations to Summit Delegates. We support the concept of one universal ID Card for one fee, with money distributed to improve tournaments. The idea of separate fees paid to each organization defeats the purpose of a single card. We feel it is important to report our work to womenıs teams and players. We will use a new website, womenseniorsoftball.com, to link to Council documents and other issues and documents related to Womenıs softball. This site is not related to any organization and is dedicated to womenıs senior softball. We also continue to report on sandbagger.com, and we will also write letters to represented organizations asking for their support. Ridge Hooks discussed the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame for Women. Vicki Oltean will chair for women. We discussed working on uniformity among rules for all womenıs play. We are continuing to work toward aligning the womenıs age divisions. We discussed a couple of rules we are particularly interested in. We would like to see the extra safety base at first base used consistently and enforced by the umpires. We would also like to see the commitment line consistently marked properly and marked the same for each organization. We discussed the necessity for representatives to be willing to challenge their own organizations. We are starting to consider how to establish a true national champion by having a playoff among the champions from each organization. 8. We spent time on resolving conflicts in scheduling for 2004, and working on a better method for avoiding conflicts in 2005. |
