National Senior Softball Summit

NOTICE: No more Ratings Appeals will be accepted or decided until after the last major National Championships at the end of October.

This website is the main communication vehicle of the National Senior Softball Summit. It is supported by all nine national senior softball organizations: ASA, ISA, LVSSA, SSUSA, SPA, ISSA/ISF and the Huntsman Games.

The Summit, founded in 1999, is the annual gathering of the nine national associations that provide senior national tournaments and programs. The purpose of the Summit is to provide a forum for communication between these associations for the good of the sport.

In addition, Summit delegates hear recommendations and responds to the National Menšs Advisory Board and the National Women's Advisory Council.

Mission:
The purpose of the Summit is to provide a forum for communication between member associations.

Objectives:
» To strive to minimize conflicts in National Tournament dates.
» To identify and publish the commonalities and differences of the major rules of member organizations.
» To provide a forum for players to give input to member organizations.
» To provide information to member organizations for the ratings of teams for their organizations.
» To provide awareness of health and safety issues to senior players.
» To promote Senior Softball.

Beginning in 2008, each organization places Team Ratings on their own website. Organizations have access to the National Ratings and decisions, but make final ratings decisions for their own organization.

The National Ratings Committee continues to rule on appeals. Teams winning first place in all Summit organization final championships tournaments are raised up one skill level for the next year with no chance for appeal.

Any other teams may appeal their ratings after playing in at least three national qualifiers or tournaments to the National Ratings Committee. Final Ratings will be periodically updated until the last National Championship tournaments have been completed in October.

Appeals MUST include: the current and the previous year Rosters, records of at least three major qualifying tournaments, including win-loss and opponents and scores of each game.

If you have a question regarding the ratings, changes in team names, disbanded teams, or teams that have moved up in age group, or information concerning a team's ratings, you can contact any of the three members of the Ratings Committee listed on the appeals form.

Appeal forms must be mailed to each of the three National Rating Committee Members listed on the form AFTER FINAL RATINGS APPEAR HERE IN JUNE. Appeals MUST include: the current and the previous year Rosters, records of at least three major qualifying tournaments, including win-loss and opponents and scores of each game.
